An Evaluative Study on Interlibrary Loan Services of Medical Library in Korea

Abstract

|
The present study is conducted to the medical library work-loads in connection with interlibrary loan system. The data used for this study are collected from the 116 membership libraries of the Korea Medical Library Association through prepared questionnaires obtaining information related to interlibrary loan services.
The research findings are summarized as follows:
The foreign journals subscribed by the medical library are greatly varied from 100 to more than 1,000 titles in accordance with characteristics of the library. It was found that a great number of subscribed foreign medical journals are merged to few libraries in large city. Hence, reference copy request through interlibrary loan system are limited with particular library. Therefore, there are many inefficient and difficult experiences for reference loan services between libraries.
